Growth Plates

Well here it is folks, the real game ender. Growth plates. What are they, where do they come from, and how do they affect me?

Growth plates in short, when you are younger, is a cartilage like tissue that exists at the end of your bones. Namely, your leg bones, and any other bones that contribute to your growth. When you get older, This cartilage hardens and turns into the bone or plate, and then seals off your ability to grow anymore. I suppose the real question is, "when do they seal up and when do I stop growing?". The answer to that will be different from person to person. A roundabout answer will be anywhere between 18 years of age and 28 years of age. An exception to that would be if a growth plate is damaged at a younger age. If that is the case sorry to say, the plate might prematurely seal up. And the 18 to 28 category need not apply to you.

As always, there is a silver lining to this. If you are reading this right now and are between 18 years and 28 years of age. There is still a chance that you can attain the vertical growth you are looking for. As a matter of fact , if you are between 18 years and 28 years of age, then finding this website will be a wonderful thing for you indeed. For in this website, you should find all the information you need to grow to any height you want. The only thing that would bind you, in my opinion, would be your genetics or DNA in a sense. I simply cannot see a person who's father is 4'11" tall become 7'5" tall. Perhaps you should settle for 5'8" or something along those lines.

Now if you were listening closely to my story, you may have one very good question to ask me. The question is this: "I thought you said you didn't grow it all, and you started trying to grow at 20 years old. If that is the case then why are you telling us that we still have a chance if we are anywhere from 18 to 28 years old?" Well my friends, that is an excellent, excellent question. and luckily for you it has an obvious and very important answer. Are you ready for it? Ready or not, here it comes: My growth plates sealed up when I was about 20 years old.

That's right. When I was about 20 years old. While I was studying toward a getting my real estate license, my growth plates were in fact in the process of sealing themselves up. And just how did I find this out? Ah! Another excellent question! Since you asked, I'll tell you! I SAW A DOCTOR. An orthopedic surgeon to be precise. Upon close examination of both an MRI and x-ray after I was run over by a truck ( yes you heard correctly, I was run over by a truck) my doctor told me that around 20 years of age my growth plates had sealed up entirely. Understand though, that I was run over at about 24, so the accident had nothing to do with my growth plates sealing. it was simply my time for them to be sealed.

So, boys and girls, ladies and gentlemen, I pray to god you can figure out what the very first step to growing taller is. If you cannot, I'll help you out:

GO SEE A DOCTOR, HAVE AN X-RAY DONE, CHECK YOUR GROWTH PLATES, AND FIND OUT IF YOU ARE INDEED PHYSIOLOGICALLY CAPABLE OF STILL GROWING.

And, after all of this, if it turns out they are sealed up, and you have to still grow taller in order to live, then the only things left for you are: 1. Shoes or pieces of clothing that boost your height or 2. Bone lengthening, which is only used in extreme cases. (See the chapter on bone lengthening)
